Bill Davis of Colinet, Newfoundland first began painting as a hobby when he retired from a long career with the Federal Public Service. His love of the wilderness and knowledge of scenic rural Newfoundland, including the picturesque coastal communities, greatly inspired his painting. He studied drawing and painting at Memorial University and also studied under the direction of a number of other well-known artists. Using various techniques and a strong desire for learning, he continues to develop his own unique style. He is a member of the Art Association of Newfoundland and Labrador.
