U.S. Navy Floating Drydock and Ship Repair
The
U.S. Naval Base had a ship repair unit at which hundreds of ships of
the American and Allied Navies, as well as United Nations merchant
vessels obtained repairs and service during World War 11. In the
picture is a view of the busy interior of one of the main machine
shops of this two - three million dollar unit.
In
the picture is the Floating Dry Dock no. 25, located next to the Ship
Repair building, with a frigate in drydock, which was used on the
U.S. Naval Base at Argentia.
